Therapy helps you sort through the noise and find your footing again. Explore, heal, and move forward with confidence.
I’m Alena Lauritsen, a Portland-based licensed clinical social worker with a master’s degree from Boston University. I am passionate about helping people create meaningful change in their lives. Before becoming a therapist, I spent several years as a middle and high school teacher, an experience that deepened my understanding of individuals and families and the challenges they face.
My approach to therapy is practical and compassionate with a psychodynamic framework to understand each person and address their unique challenges.I work with adults, teens, children, and families to help them find clarity and thrive in their relationships and daily lives.

How I can help
-
The teen years can be complex and overwhelming—for adolescents and their parents alike. I help teens navigate identity, emotions, relationships, and stress with curiosity and confidence, creating space for honest conversation and real growth.
-
Families are systems, and when one part feels off, everyone feels it. I work with families to strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and create patterns of connection that support lasting harmony at home.
-
Loss changes us—and it can be hard to know what healing looks like. I provide a compassionate space to process grief at your own pace and find meaning, comfort, and resilience in the face of change.
-
Every brain works differently, and that’s something to understand and celebrate. I help neurodivergent individuals and their families navigate challenges, build on strengths, and create strategies that foster confidence and connection.
-
When worry, stress, or sadness take over, it can feel hard to find your footing. Together, we’ll uncover the roots of what’s weighing you down and develop practical tools to help you feel steadier, lighter, and more in control.
-
Sometimes words aren’t enough—and that’s where creativity helps. Through art therapy, I offer a hands-on, expressive way to explore feelings, reduce stress, and discover new perspectives on your experiences.
